Life in the Body of Christ
(Book of Ephesians)

We are adopted children of God through Jesus Christ, forgiven of our sin (disobedience) through God's grace, to bring all things together under one head. (1:5-10).  In 2:11-22 Paul is proclaiming that it is God's plan that Jews and Christians are to become united!  "...Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together in one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus." (3:6).

"...I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received." (4:1).  "...so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining the full measure of perfection found in Christ." (4:12, 13).  Christ wants to give us a new attitude...  See 4:20-24.

"...Live as children of light...and find out what pleases the Lord. (5:8, 10).  "...making the most of every opportunity...always giving thanks to God the Father for everything..." (5:16, 20).  "Put on the full armor of God...the belt of truth...the breastplate of righteousness...the gospel of peace...the shield of faith...the helmet of salvation...and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray..." (6:11, 14-18).

Spend a little extra time outlining, underlining, highlighting and placing into memory the concepts of Christian living presented in Ephesians!  You may have heard 2:8 & 9 over and over again.  Make sure you also understand 2:10!

It is God's intent that we all become one - in the Body of Christ.  Just like in our bodies, if one member suffers, we all suffer; if one member rejoices, we all rejoice.  Through Jesus' love, we help one another and carry one another's burdens.  In this way the body is built up...until we attain the full measure of perfection found in Christ!
