"I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did first." (2:19). Just the opposite of Ephesus, which had lost its first love!
But, like Pergamum, they tolerate a false teacher. She is called Jezebel. Probably because she was introducing into the Christian church the same types of abominations that Jezebel, the wife of Ahab in 1 Kings 16:29-33, introduced into Israel.
This kind of behavior can not be tolerated by, "...the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished brass." (2:18). He says, "...I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways." (2:22).
"Now I say to the rest of you...hold on to what you have until I come." (2:24-25). "To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations...just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star." (2:26-28).
Jesus is the Morning Star (22:16). One of the earliest prophecies about Jesus, call him a STAR: "...A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel..." (Numbers 24:17).
The people of the Thyatira type of church are likely to be leaders (politicians) in this world. For expediency and "political correctness" they may tolerate a false teacher called "Jezebel" -- probably placed by Satan to give people what they think they want!
By faithfulness, not by compromise, will God's People attain True Leadership!
